Oakwood Baptist Church has always been a very mission oriented church and has supported mission workers abroad for over seventy years.

Our current Mission families work in Brazil, Ghana, Ireland and UK.

Amongst others, we support the work of:

Wycliffe Bible Translators - an organisation aiming to translate the Bible into every language so that every person can read it for themselves.

Tear Fund - a Christian charity passionate about ending poverty.

Christianity Explored

Christianity Explored Logo

Christianity Explored is an informal way to investigate Christianity or just brush up on the basics. It explores who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him

  • You don't need to know anything about the Bible

  • You won't be asked to read aloud, pray or sing

  • You can ask any question you want

We run the Christianity Explored Course whenever there is the opportunity, so you would be able to join this seven week course within a short time

The course is based in small groups which means we can be flexible to find a day and time which is most suitable

For further information, call the Pastor, Gordon Penman on 020 8360 3814 or use the Contact form from the menu to the left, or speak to someone you know who belongs to the church

We would be glad to have the opportunity to talk openly about faith in Jesus Christ with you

If you would like more information on the course you can look at the Christianity Explored website by clicking on this link: www.christianityexplored.org

Everyone is welcome on Sunday morning, and we often have people from 9 months to 90 years! There are options available for young people including the youngest.

We start at 10.30am, and with a relaxed approach, include traditional and contemporary songs in our worship, together with prayer, and most importantly, reading and preaching from the Bible. We almost always have tea and coffee afterwards, so we can have a chat and catch up.

On the second Sunday of each month we have a Family Service, when all ages stay together for a shorter, more informal occasion.

On the third Sunday of each month we include Communion during our worship, and all are welcome, whether to take bread and wine or not
